Many people who don't know they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward of Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island, although it's not the case. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. When she was a child she hoped to become a performer but an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. The moment I outgrew the size of my male companion then I slowed down. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned to acting. Her high school teacher school was the one who pushed her into the right direction. The teacher suggested she try to find a role in school's annual play. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the leading lady for Anne of Green Gables. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, large and small. The most notable was when she landed the role of Rita on The Handmaid's Tale.
